Finding
Joy
by
Reverend
Russell Jackman
When
we begin life as a child we find it wondrous with only the occasional
interruption to our joyful playtime. Yet as we grow older we often find the
interruptions dominate our life and only occasionally do we find the playtime.
If we seriously look at ourselves - that's already a comical statement - we
discover how utterly ridiculous we are on the one hand and how profoundly
amazing we are on the other. Our morbid seriousness comes from the ridiculous
side, not the amazing. Oh, but we do manage to continue to take everything so,
so seriously. Even our playtime; we organize, plan, set up parameters, determine
participants, create precautions, outline the game rules, set the time line, and ...
We've
done our best to take the spontaneity and joy out of life. Yes, most of us do
find some fun and do have a good laugh now and then. Is that the best life has
to offer? An occasional laugh and structured activities labeled as fun that we
might experience if we can just get it all in order? Life is about seeing the
joy at each turn, including the high road and even the low road. No, I don't
think we're to live in bliss each moment of our lives. We're in human form and
we've come here for a reason. ....
So
what happened to the joy in our lives? Joy is experienced as an expression of
that which we ultimately are, not poor suffering ....
This
is a path, a journey, a life time quest. This doesn't end because you 'got
somewhere'. Each step shows you the next bend in road, the next expansion into you,
your heart, and your connection.
You
